Well, the time is almost here. Tomorrow morning and we'll in motion for quite a time...about 25 hours from memory.
Bookings have been confirmed, the bank raided, passports dusted off and clothes stuffed into bulging suitcases. Time has certainly zipped by since Deb and I started kicking around the idea of a US trip last year.
Why the US? Seemed logical after Europe, and we've both been wondering if the US is the same as depicted on the tele at night. Also - my Scottish blood coming to the fore - the exchange rate seemed pretty sweet.
The plan is to be packed in an air-tight aluminium tube (hmmm...just like a cigar) and then re-appearing in New York. From there we'll be bussing our way across the top half of the US before ending the tour in Los Angeles. We then catch a plane and head north to San Francisco to chill before coming home in early October.
I guess we are filled with a bit of anxiety and maybe a touch of trepidation - neither of us are sure we'll have jobs when we get back (government cuts). But we are hugely excited and keen to make a start.
No idea when the next update will occur...probably Wednesday or Thursday, depending on how ragged the flights leave us.
Hot tip: if you want to follow the blog, there is an e-mail subscription function that will tell you about updates.
How exciting for you both. Have a wonderful trip...make the most of every moment! I'll be keen to read your updates...I hope your flight was smooth and uneventful.
ReplyDeleteWorry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Enjoy your trip; I'm glad you continued on with your plans. What will be, will be...Que sera, sera.
Take good care....Lee (as in George)!
